Teaching Philosophy

I am a strong believer in the idea that our past experiences shape our trajectory in life and impact our strength sets. I believe that the perpetual practice of finding different ways to explain concepts greatly influenced my love for and desire to teach. I believe that an effective professor (1) fosters critical thinking, (2) helps students personalize course material, (3) creates a brave environment for dialogue (Arao & Clemens, 2013), (4) presents diverse viewpoints, and (5) lets different types of evidence (e.g., data) speak for themselves. I have strived to implement the aforementioned points in my teaching.
